It may come as a shock to you, but I wasn’t always a professional amateur sports writer. After a seven-year stint in the United States Marine Corps, I decided to make a (surprisingly seamless) career change to Philadelphia sports coverage—I suppose the seven straight years of complaining prepared me for this.
